Post Office House is an AA Four Star Gold rated bed and breakfast located in the centre of Belford. This prominent Grade II Listed Victorian building was formerly the village post office until 2014. It is also a family home and has been extensively refurbished and elegantly decorated, offering guests relaxing and comfortable accommodation, together with a quality breakfast made with local produce.
We are perfectly located to visit the stunning coastline, historic castles and explore our wonderful countryside here in North Northumberland. Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Farne Islands and the Cheviot Hills are a short drive or cycle away. We are also on the Northumberland Coastal Path, St Cuthbert's and St Oswald's Way, routes which are highly popular with walkers. There is off-street private parking for three cars.
We have three en-suite rooms; Berwick (ground floor double), Coquet (double) and Longstone (twin) are furnished to a high standard and are equipped with Smart televisions with Freeview channels, free WiFi, Nespresso coffee machines and full hospitality trays. Fresh milk is provided and homemade cake on arrival. Facilities include bathrobes, quality linen and large bath sheets, Scottish Fine Soap toiletries and two comfy chairs for extra relaxation. All rooms retain the original wooden sash windows and period features. The Berwick Room has the original wooden shutters, still in full working order.
Our award-winning breakfasts include: Full Northumbrian and Craster kippers alongside our homemade marmalade and jams. In addition there is fresh, seasonal fruit, homemade muesli, cereals and toast. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are also available (by prior arrangement). Our dining room's focal point is the cosy, wood burning stove which is lit in the colder months and the vibrant post box fabric at the window! We endeavour to source as much local produce where possible, in order to provide our guests with a quality breakfast. Also to keep food miles to a minimum and in turn, to help our local economy thrive. We are very proud to be members of `Produced in Northumberland', a government scheme launched to highlight our region's excellent, independent food/drink producers and suppliers.
Guests are welcome to use the secluded garden to chill out after a long walk, cycle or day out and maybe enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sun. We are walker, cycle and motorcycle friendly with secure storage.
We regret we are unable accommodate wheelchairs/mobility scooters due to the historic fabric of the building. No pets allowed or children under the age of 15 years. No stag/hen/wedding groups or divers.
